Graveside service: A private service was held Saturday in Greenwood Memorial Park.
Lloyd was born May 31, 1907, in Coryell City to Wayne Sadler and Effie Augusta Britain Sadler.
Lloyd joined the Navy after graduating from Valley Mills High School in the class of 1925. He joined the U.S. Coast Guard in 1929 and retired in 1955.
A keen intellect, a strong sense of ethics, an engaging personality, a quick wit and sense of humor were the identifying aspects of Lloyd's character. Lloyd was a dedicated American, a true patriot and a proud native Texan. Beyond that he was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; his older sister, Elsie Barnett; and his younger sister, Bernice Hazen.
Survivors: His true love, wife and companion for over 60 years, Ruth Alice Williams Sadler; sons, Deryl of Kent, Wash., David of San Antonio and Dale of New Braunfels; daughters, Sheryl Smith of Mesquite, Mary Jones of Fort Worth and Patricia James of Benbrook; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; his sister, Florine Murphy of Fort Worth; niece, Betty Laws of Fort Worth; and nephews, Gene Barnett of Laguna Nigel, Calif., and P.W. Barnett of Mingus.
