Marcus Sexton Obituary

Marcus Lafayette Sexton Jr., 62, passed away Monday, Sept. 19, 2016, at home. Cryptside service: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, at Shannon Rose Hill Mausoleum. Marc Sexton was born on April 13, 1954, in Montgomery, Ala. His family moved several times until they settled in Fort Worth when he was in elementary school. Marc graduated from Eastern Hills High School in the early '70s, where he played football and was active. He graduated from UTA with a B.S. in political science. In the early 1980s he was married and they had a son, Marcus Sexton III. They moved to San Diego where they started a title research company. He began several successful businesses over the years, most related to real estate. He enjoyed life and was active in taekwondo, motorcycling with friends, going to football games, working on cars, racing his Porsche, hunting, etc. He was very supportive of the military and was able to land on a Navy aircraft carrier and spend time with his friends there. A few years ago, he moved back to Fort Worth to come "home" and be near family. His family has really enjoyed having him nearby. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his father, Marcus L. Sexton; mother, Charline Lemonds Sexton; nephew, Daniel Sexton; niece, Sydney Sexton. Survivors: Son, Marcus Sexton III and girlfriend, Jerry; sister, Shawn Linch and husband, Jim; brother, Dan Sexton and wife, Wynelle; sister, Elizabeth Morrison and husband, Rick; nieces, Sara Sexton, Amy Coelho, Valerie Sexton, Tara Perkins, Megan Myers, Meredith Baker; several great-nieces; nephews, Dean Linch, Grant Morrison and Jimmy Linch; several great-nephews; aunts; uncles; and many cousins.

Marc and I grew up together along with a lot of other Lemonds cousins. He was usually the center of fun. He had a great sense of humor. A few years ago I
told him that the comedian, Ron White, reminded me of Marc. He said, "Kim, that's the nicest thing you've ever said to me." I think he was frankly surprised that I knew who Ron White was. Even though we were very different in our interests, we had a family bond. I will miss him.

So sorry to hear of Marc's passing. We had been best friends for 30 years. We sat next to each other while he learned the title business in San Diego. I enjoyed hearing him talk about cars, motorcycles, politics, (rip the democrats) and football. I'll never forget the big black snake he kept in his house. Even though he moved back to Texas we talked frequently on the phone. It's hard to believe he is gone. Joanne and I will keep his family in our prayers.

Those we love remain with us, for love itself lives on, and cherished memories never fade because a loved one's gone. Those we love can never be more than a thought apart. For as long there is a memory, they'll live on in our hearts. Rest In Paradise Marc

I will miss Marc in so many ways - we have always been the kind of best friends that only cousins who grow up together can be!! Plus we had the chance to spend time together as adults - and that was always wonderful too! You always made me smile, and laugh and we were always glad to be together!!! Rest easy and know you made an impact on this world and in our hearts that will be remembered forever. Love you forever, cousin.
