Melvin Gifford Obituary

Melvin J. Gifford, 71, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and friend to many, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2007, surrounded by his loved ones.

Funeral: 3:30 p.m. Monday in Greenwood Chapel. Burial: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Greenwood Funeral Home.

Memorials: Heritage Baptist Church, 201 E. Broad St., Mansfield 76063; or Benbrook Firefighters Association, P.O. Box 26569, Benbrook 76126.

Melvin was born May 30, 1935, in Paris, Texas. He had lived in Fort Worth for 51 years. He retired from Union Pacific Railroad after 40 years of service.

Survivors: Wife, Mary Gifford; sons, Mark Gifford and wife, Stella, Scott Gifford and wife, Rebecca; grandchildren, Whitney and husband, Joseph, Michelle, Payne and Troy; brother, Russell; sisters, Glenna and Nina Jo; and a host of other loving family members and friends.
