Funeral: 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Catoosa, Okla. Michael Rogne will officiate. Visitation: Was held in Colleyville on Saturday. Mike will make his final return to Catoosa and visitation will be 1 to 8 p.m. Monday with the family present from 4 to 8 p.m. at Amis Kinard Funeral Home.
Memorials: May be made to the National Alzheimers Association, 919 N. Michigan Ave., Suite 1100, Chicago, Ill. 6011-1676 or to Fellowship Church "Get In the Game" 2450 N. Highway 121, Grapevine, Texas 76051.
Pallbearers: Brent Bushyhead, Rob Buckles, Larry Griggs, Danny Harris, Steve Hinton, Virgil Tipsword, Lester "Plug" Steelman and David Davis. Mike will make his final rest next to his dad in Catoosa, Okla. where his heart has always been. "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; ... Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." Psalms 23: 4 & 6.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Veston Garner in 1987. Mike was born Jan. 22, 1958, in Tulsa, Okla. and graduated from Catoosa High School in 1976. While attending Catoosa schools, Mike excelled in almost all athletics. The bonds of friendship with former teammates and coaches developed in those "glory days" still remain in tact today and were a source of joy for Mike. Mike attended Arkansas Tech University before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force and then began his career in the construction business. At the time of his death, Mike was employed by Angelo Iafrate Construction. He always remained loyal to his Oklahoma Sooners, Dallas Cowboys and NASCAR favorite Dale Jarrett #88. He looked forward to his return each fall to hunt in the woods of his homeland. Mike and his wife attended Fellowship Church in Grapevine.
Survivors: Left to cherish many precious memories are his mother, Naydene Garner of Catoosa, Okla.; wife of seven years, Cheryl Ann "Francis" Garner of Colleyville; forever "baby girl" and true joy of his life, Courtney Michaela Garner, 18, of Claremore, Okla.; and her mother, Annette; sister, Suzanne Smith and husband, Raymond, of Collinsville; nieces, Heather, Heidi, Nikki and Heather Ray; nephew, Kyle; great-nephew, Wyatt; mother-in-law, Etaugh Francis of Dallas; four-legged pal, Lexie Rose; many loving aunts, uncles and life long friends.
