Michael McLeod Obituary

Beloved father, husband and son, Michael Jay McLeod, 53, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer (sarcoma). Memorial service: 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth, 800 W. Fifth St., followed by a reception in Wesley Hall. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mike's memory for sarcoma research to CTRC, Office of Development - MC7835, 7703 Floyd Curl Drive, San Antonio, Texas 3900. Mike was born Nov. 9, 1957, in Wellington, Kan., to Robert McLeod and Mary Alice Evans. Mike married the love of his life, Lisa Shrewsbury, on Sept. 25, 1993, and they raised their two daughters in Haslet. He was a 1975 graduate of Wellington (Kan.) High School, attended Wichita Technical Institute and Hutchinson Junior College, and was an avid 1983 graduate of Kansas State University with a degree in electrical engineering. Mike received his master's degree in systems design from Southern Methodist University. Mike was a loyal and dedicated employee of Lockheed Martin (General Dynamics) for 27 years. Mike loved working in his shop making beautiful furniture and yard art. The family would like to express gratitude to Dr. Robert Ruxer and his staff and the staff of the seventh-floor oncology unit at Baylor All Saints Hospital; to Vitas Hospice at Baylor; and to Dr. Monica Mita and her staff at CTRC in San Antonio for their special care and attention given to Michael. Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Mildred McLeod and Armour and Dorothy Evans; an uncle, James Evans; and an aunt, Beverly McLeod. Survivors: Loving wife of nearly 18 years, Lisa; loving daughters, Andreanna "Anjo" and Alicia "Alli," all of Haslet; parents, Bob and Mary Alice McLeod of Cherokee, Okla.; sister, Cindy Press (Bryan) of Wichita Falls; brothers, Mark McLeod (Marti) of Sachse and Don McLeod (Carol) of Oswego, Kan.; great-aunt, Roberta Case of Tulsa, Okla.; uncle, John Evans of Memphis, Tenn.; aunt, Carmen Evans of Columbus, Ga.; parents-in-law, Bill and Roxie Shrewsbury of Germantown, Tenn.; brother-in-law, Mark Shrewsbury (Gloria) of The Woodlands; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and one great-nephew; and wonderful friends.

I just heard about Mike's passing and I just wanted to tell you how it was a pleasure knowing and working with Mike at Lockheed Martin when I worked there. May the Lord bless you and your girls during this time of sorrow. You are in my prayers.
