Milton Wardrop Obituary

Milton Lewis Wardrop, 69, passed away Thursday, April 20, 2006, with his wife of 38 years by his side.

Funeral: 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Greenwood Garden Chapel. Burial: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Greenwood Funeral Home.

Milton was born May 4, 1936, in Mount Carmel, Pa., to James and Mildred Wardrop. Milton attended Penn State College and from there joined the U.S. Army. He made a career of the Army, serving over 20 years before retirement in the mid '70s. While serving in both Korea and Vietnam, Milton received several honors including the Bronze Star. He traveled the world, seeing Germany, Japan, Italy, Greece and France. Milton was extremely proud of his long service to his country.

Milton met Helen Grimsley, wife of 38 years, at Fort Wolters in Mineral Wells. Helen was a local girl working at the PX on base. It was love at first sight. Milton and Helen were married Dec. 9, 1967.

After the military, Milton went on to have a second career at Neiman Marcus. He retired from Nieman Marcus and spent the last 10 years of his life pursuing his hobbies. Milton was an avid reader and loved spending hours on his computer. In retirement, Milton also joined the Scottish Clans of North Texas and served as national treasurer for the Clan McDuff. He got his family involved in their Scottish heritage. Milton had one grandchild, Zoe Beth. She was the second love of his life.

Milton was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mildred Wardrop; and sisters, Anna Denman and Ellen Kapeghian.

Special thank-you to Helen's good friend, Eva Gentry.

To the Wardrops. I graduated with Milton, we called him Ticker, from Mt Carmel hs in 1954. We played on the basketball team together. He, of course, was the center. We spend a lot of time with Lenny Falkie, Joe Cheddar, John Fracalossi and Francis Guzevich. I missed Ticker and was disappointed that he never attended one of our class reunions. From what I read, he appeared to be one of the nice guys. My prays are with you..Charlotte Lobos Varano called me tonight to tell me that Milt passed away and where you lived so I decided to go on the internet and see if I could find any information.

Helen,

So sorry for your loss. I would have attended the funeral today in Scottish Regalia, but I am sick with a virus and did not wish to expose anyone else. I will miss my raffle buddy very much. I hate that I work so much I don't have time to spend with friends. Milton was a special gentleman. He always had a kind word for me and made me feel important. He will be sorely missed. Let me know if there is anything I can do for you.

Love, Deb and Mark Dandridge
