Weatherford, Texas - Monte Kenneth Arledge, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully at home in Weatherford, Texas surrounded by his loving family. Monte was welcomed into the arms of the Lord, reunited with his parents Kenneth Weldon Arledge and Carmen Marguerietta Ethridge Arledge on December 2, 2023.

A memorial service will be held to honor Monte's life at Azleland Memorial Park and Mausoleum, 850 North Cardinal Road on Monday, December 11, 2023 at 10:00 am.

Born in Bowie, Texas, on June 8, 1940, Monte spent his childhood in River Oaks, Texas. In 1969, he moved to Azle, Texas, where he built his life and raised his family.

Monte's love story began with Mary Gladys Thompson, whom he met on a blind date during their teenage years. Their connection was undeniable, leading to their marriage in 1964. Their love was a testament to the power of commitment and devotion, a bond that remained steadfast throughout their lives. Monte and Mary were inseparable, sharing unwavering support and companionship wherever life's journey took them.

Monte's educational pursuits included attending Castleberry Elementary, Irma Marsh Junior High, and Fort Worth Technical High School, graduating in 1958. He furthered his education by attending Arlington State College.

For 36 years, Monte dedicated himself to his career at GTE/Verizon in Azle, Texas. His work ethic was exemplary, known for his unwavering dedication and dependability. He never missed a day of work, even during times of illness. Monte's commitment to his profession earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues, who maintained close ties with him until his passing. A special note of gratitude goes to Jimmy, Ron, Paul, and Richard, who were steadfast friends to Monte throughout his life.

Monte and Mary shared a passion for travel, exploring various countries and states. Their favorite destination was Port Aransas, Texas, a place they visited annually since 1972. Monte cherished the moments spent fishing and strolling along the beach with his beloved wife.

His lifelong fascination with airplanes and aviation led him to pursue his dream of becoming a private pilot. Monte's love for flying was a testament to his adventurous spirit and unwavering passion for exploration.

Throughout his life, Monte remained a devoted Christian, husband, father, and grandfather. Even during his final years, when he bravely faced the challenges of cancer and kidney failure, he never lost his sense of humor and unwavering love for his family, whom he cherished with all his heart.

Monte's dedication to his family extended beyond his lifetime. In his final act of love, he meticulously planned his own funeral, ensuring that his loved ones would be cared for even in his absence.

Monte is preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, Gerald Rex Thompson, and Delia Hester Bishop Thompson. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Thompson Arledge; their daughter, Angela Shelene Arledge, and her three children, Tara Lynn Gonzales, Kara Ann Gonzales, and Sara Michelle Gonzales; their son, Scott Kenneth Arledge, and wife Stevie Deann Spigler Arledge, and their four children, Reed Kenneth Arledge, Alex Weldon Arledge, Sydney Deann Arledge, and Will Garrett Arledge.

Monte's legacy is one of unwavering love, dedication, and unwavering spirit. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, leaving behind a cherished memory that will forever be etched in their hearts.
