Edna Darlene Munson, of Weatherford, Texas, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on September 24, 1946, she lived a life defined by devotion, resilience, and a deep commitment to those she held dear.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Terrell and Edna King; her brothers, Rodney and Ted King; her sister, Freda Thun; her daughter, Debra Munson; her grandsons, Brett Truax and Kevin Munson; her great granddaughter, Bailee Britton; and her son in law, Gary Worley. Their memories remained close to her heart throughout her life.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Munson of Weatherford, who was the love of her life. Darlene leaves behind four daughters who were the center of her world: Tammy and her husband, Jim Hannum of Granbury; Tonya Worley and her partner, Gary Peyton of Weatherford; Tina Munson and her partner, Pat Moose of Springtown; and Becky Munson of Iowa.
Darlene is also survived by her siblings, each of whom shared a lifetime of memories with her: Karen Pippen of Marshall; sister-in-law, Barbara King of Azle; Elona and her husband, Rick Johnson of Fort Worth; Leesha Perry of Fort Worth; Sheila and Rene Guzman of Poolville; and her brother, Dennis and his wife, Kelly King of Arlington.
Her legacy continues through her 13 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and the many nieces, nephews, friends, and church family who were blessed by her kindness and unwavering love.
Darlene’s life was a testament to strength and faith. She nurtured her family with patience, guided them with wisdom, and celebrated them with pride. Her presence brought comfort, and her absence leaves a space that can only be filled with the memories she created.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, at 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086. Following this, a funeral service will take place on Monday, February 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the South Side Baptist Church, at 1115 South Brazos Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086. Burial will follow at Annetta Cemetery. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
