Samuel Clarke Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Corley Funeral Home - Corsicana on Jan. 22, 2026.
Samuel Martin Clarke, known affectionately as Sam to his friends and family, left this world on January 21, 2026, at the age of 84, in the same town where he first drew breath, Corsicana, Texas. Born on May 22, 1941, to the late Robert and Ethelene Clarke, Sam was a beacon of light in the lives of everyone who knew him. His infectious smile and warm presence will be profoundly missed by all.

A proud Corsicanan by birth, Sam carried the values of his community throughout his life. He attended Corsicana High School, where he graduated in 1959 with a group of lifelong friends. His thirst for knowledge and exemplary work ethic led him to the University of Texas at Arlington, where he was part of the inaugural graduating class in 1967.He later earned a MBA, his academic achievements set the stage for a distinguished career as a forensic accountant and comptroller, where he was known for his sharp mind and integrity.

Sam's dedication to his country was evident through his service in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1959 to 1964, a period that shaped his character and instilled in him a sense of discipline and honor that he carried throughout his life. He was a Christian who lived by his faith, and his actions reflected the love and grace he found in his beliefs.

Beyond his professional and military service, Sam was a man of many passions. He relished the simple pleasure of smoking his pipe while recounting stories of past adventures. Football season was a special time for Sam, who never missed a Corsicana Tigers or Dallas Cowboys game, his cheers echoing the passion he had for the sport. His commitment to youth was evident in his roles as a little league coach and scout master, where he mentored many young individuals, shaping their characters and instilling in them values that they would carry into adulthood.

As a proud member of the Texas Tech Dad's Association, he supported and encouraged education, and his legacy of learning continues through his family. Sam's loving wife, Beverly Clarke, stood by his side in every chapter of their lives together. He was a guiding light to his children, Angelia Holley (Dave), Randall Clarke (Kathryn), and Robert Clarke, and a playful and wise grandfather to Colin Ives (Saige), Brian Ives (Cecelia), Catherine Huntington (Connor), Annabella Clarke, Samuel Clarke, and Alexandra Clarke.

Sam was predeceased by his sister, Wanda Glazener. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Described as loving, intelligent, and friendly, Sam Clarke's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the pursuit of excellence. His life was a testament to the power of kindness and the enduring strength of family bonds. As we bid farewell to Sam, we celebrate the remarkable life he led and the countless lives he touched with his generosity and spirit.
