Michael Barris Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Castle Ridge Mortuary - North on Feb. 19, 2026.
Michael Herschel Barris, a devoted family man and proud Army veteran, passed away on February 17, 2026, in Converse, Texas. Born on August 25, 1979, in Dallas, Texas, Michael's life was marked by steadfast dedication to his loved ones and his country. Nothing brought him more pride than his service to his country and his family.

Michael was the cherished son of Mark Barris and Rosalyn Barris. He grew up in Dallas, where he developed the strong sense of loyalty and commitment that would define his life. These qualities guided him through seventeen years of distinguished service as an Army Sergeant. Michael's military career was characterized by honor and resilience. His time in the Army left a lasting impression on those who served alongside him and those who knew him at home.

Family was always at the heart of Michael's world. He is survived by his beloved wife, Melissa Barris, whose partnership brought him great joy and strength throughout their years together, and his parents mark and Rosalyn Barris. Michael's legacy continues through his children: Chris Barris, Seth Barris, Ilaria Cielo, Belle Girtman-Barris, Amber Barris, Gabriel Barris, and Krystiana Barris. He also leaves behind his grandson Luke Barris and his brother Gary Greenwald. Each family member held a special place in Michael's heart, and he took immense pride in their accomplishments and happiness.

Michael's love for his children was unwavering; he found purpose and fulfillment in supporting them through every stage of their lives. In recent years Michael looked forward to seeing his children become adults and continue to bring him pride though their accomplishments. Beyond his immediate family circle, Michael's affection extended to his pets, who were treasured companions and brought him comfort throughout the years. He leaves behind his two dogs, General and Cleopatra, and his cat Napolean.

A natural storyteller, Michael always had a story to light up a room. His stories reflected the richness of his experiences and the meaningful connections he forged throughout his life. Those who knew him will remember not only his courage but also the unique kindness he showed to others.

As we celebrate the life of Michael Herschel Barris, we remember a man whose courage, love for family, and enduring friendships brought light to all those around him. May his memory continue to inspire joy in those who knew him.
