Florence T. Guzman

June 20, 1940 – January 19, 2026

Florence T. Guzman entered into eternal rest on January 19, 2026, in Von Ormy, Texas, at the age of 85. She was born on June 20, 1940, in Natalia, Texas.

Florence was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose radiant smile could light up any room. When you were in her presence, you could feel the warmth, love, and compassion she so freely gave. Her greatest joy in life was her family, and she faithfully supported her children and grandchildren in all of their activities and accomplishments.

She had a true gift in the kitchen and was well known for her delicious homemade enchiladas, famous oatmeal cake, and pumpkin bread, which brought comfort and happiness to many. Florence also enjoyed playing darts, dancing, and traveling to Las Vegas to try her luck at the slot machines. No matter where she was, she brought laughter, strength, and unwavering love to those around her.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Charles E. Guzman; her parents, Gregorio and Margarita Martinez; her siblings, Lucio Martinez, Delia T. Martinez Maldonado, David Martinez, Alma Striker, and Ruben Martinez; her in-laws, Eugene and Clara Guzman; and her sister-in-law, Patsy Guzman.

She is survived by her son, Charles E. Guzman, Jr. (Penny); her daughter, Valerie A. Guzman (Kevin); her grandchildren, Joshua R. Guzman, Jennel Vela (Justin), Tracy Dominic Garza (Tania), Kaitlyn E. Guzman (Isaac), Jessica Utley (Justin), and Alissa Wallace (Tim); and her great-grandchildren, Julian Guzman, Sophia Guzman, Alyvia Perez, and Harlow Utley. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Vitas Hospice of San Antonio-especially Teresita, Carolina, Amanda, Mo, Joaquin, Veronica, Ron, Venus, and Bryan-who provided compassionate care and comfort. Also a special thanks to our outstanding friends that looked after her when they could have done a million other things, but allowed us to spend time as a family to support one another; Tam and Kassandra Gonzalez, Jessica and Sara Ontiveros and Melissa Johnson. You all will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Visitation for the immediate family will be held on February 19, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Public viewing will follow from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., at Castle Ridge Mortuary North, 10901 W. Loop 1604 N., San Antonio, Texas 78254.

On Friday, February 20, 2026, final viewing will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., followed by departure in procession to Sacred Heart Church in Von Ormy at 10:00 a.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at 1:45 p.m. at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, Texas 78209, Shelter #5.
