Funeral: 12:30 p.m. Monday at Moore Memorial Chapel, 1219 North Davis, Arlington. Internment: Moore Memorial Gardens. Services are under the direction of Moore Funeral Home.
Pat was born Jan. 31, 1950, in Hutchinson, Kan., to Warren and Dorothy Hockman. She moved to Arlington in 1970, where she made her home until her death. Pat married Daryl Barkley on Aug. 23, 1969. Pat blessed the world with a beautiful son, Jason Barkley, who was the twinkle in her eye until her death. She married Don Penny on Nov. 19, 1994, and he stood faithfully by her side through health and illness.
Pat's gift to us all was the art that came from her hands. Her inquisitiveness engulfed her, and her knowledge of all art forms expanded beyond normal confines. She embraced all things beautiful, from art glass to clay, from porcelain to fabric, from textiles to knitting, from precious metal sculpting to art welding. Her voracious appetite to explore all art forms guided her heart to learn all she could, experience all she could, and share with countless people around the world the glorious art pieces she produced. She could not keep the beauty of her mind to herself. Rather, she chose to teach others the incredible talents she possessed and cherished.
Pat was thrilled to welcome into her family her first grandchild on Jan. 21, 2005. As with every grandmother, the joy of a new life thrilled her like no other. Pat was employed by Oil States Industries in Arlington as a project administrator for over 24 years. She considered this to be her extended family.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Mary Ellen; and her sister, Janet.
The family would like to thank the staff of Vitas Hospice for their help and compassion.
Survivors: Her husband, Donn of the home; her son, Jason Barkley and his wife, Tiffany, and their daughter, Kyra, of Arlington; her brothers, Gary Hockman, Roger Klenke; sister, Linda Hockman of Oklahoma City; and an endless host of friends and fellow artists across the country who are left to continue her life's love through their arts.

My thoughts and prayers are with Patty's family. I remember Patty as a sweet little girl who often visited in our home. The Hockmans were dear family friends and we enjoyed many special times together. I especially enjoyed visiting with Patty when she and her family came to Edgar a few years ago. I extend my deepest sympathy to each of you.

I have fond memories of the Hockman family when we were growing up in Kearney, NE in the 1950's. Patty (that's what we called her when she was little) attended my birthday parties and we went to church camp together. I remember the sadness when Mary Ellen became ill and passed away at such a young age. The Hockmans were very solid in their faith and some of the kindest people I ever met. My mother kept in touch with the family thru the years and she told me how excited Patty was when her little granddaughter was born. I am thankful she was able to experience the special joy of being a mother and grandmother. My family's thoughts and prayers are with Patty's loved ones. God be with you in your time of sorrow.

A very sad time, I know. We offer our sympathy and prayers to the family. I have many good memories of growing up in Kearney, Nebraska with the Hockman girls. What a nice time that was. Patty was 10 years younger and was like a little sister. I know she will be greatly missed.
