Paul Ruiz, 54, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014. Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday at St. Andrew Catholic Church. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Rosary: 5 p.m. Sunday in Greenwood Chapel. Paul was born Feb. 7, 1960, in Fort Worth to Catalino and Louise Ruiz. He graduated from R.L. Paschal High School and had 25 years in the banking industry. Paul could light up a room with his joyous laugh and warm smile. Paul was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Alice Ruiz. Survivors: Sisters, Marcella Cano and husband, John, Carolyn Garcia and husband, Daniel, and Laura Espinosa; brothers, Peter Ruiz, Edward Ruiz and wife, Bertie; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Paul's passing. I was his friend for many years. I moved out of state and lost touch but I will always remember his smile and friendship. I remember going to a party at Peter's and met the many friends of Paul's.
Heaven has now received a wonderful angel!!!

The Ruiz/Haralson family connection goes back 40 years. Catalina started buying cars from my Dad at Gambrell St. Motors. I believe that each of the Ruiz children bought their 1st car from Dad. I think Paul's 1st car was a Monte Carlo. Dad took Peter to Southwest Bank to Huff to get his 1st car loan. My Mother helped to get Peter his job with SWBT. While I have always said that my sister, Cheryl, is the Chief of the fashion police, I think that Paul would have been the Police Commissioner. He issued several warrants for my arrest over the years. It got to the point that I would wear my striped shirt with plaid shorts over to the house just to get a rise out of him. He had a serious side but I saw his humorous side much more often. he is missed

Paul had the best sense of humor-and his laugh was contagious. We worked together at Landmark Bank-but our friendship was way more than just that. We made such a great team back then-and with Karen and Peter-and later on Jody, we are left with so many good memories. One of my favorite stories is he would tell the girls at the bank he bought his clothes at Goodwill-and they would believe him. But to all who knew him, he was a meticulous dresser. Or the time he broke his ankle playing baseball!
But for some reason, he was called early, so the Peter Paul and Mary team will reconvene at a later time.
Peter-my heart is so heavy-knowing that you are left without your brother and best friend! Stay strong and know that you have so much family and friends that are always here for you.

Paul and my friendship dates back to 1985 and Landmark Bank and then for many, many years with Mercantile Bank. From the minute you met Paul, you knew you had a friend that would lighten up the worst days and make the best days even better. Paul loved to call in the middle of the night because he thought it was funny to wake me up; it was always worth it to hear him laugh. Peter, Paul and Mary (Hilton-Brymer), the party won't be the same without Paul but the Peter/Paul/Mary & Karen parties will always hold a special place in my heart! Rest in peace my dear friend.
