Ralph was skilled in so many things. He was the best in my book at hunting, fishing, navigating the Guadalupe River in a canoe, riding a horse, camping out, and fixing a car. I was fascinated watching him clean fish and deer after a trip. I don´t know if I´ll ever meet another person who lived their life so fully through their hands! Most everything I didn´t learn in college, I learned from watching him. He loved Whataburger and couldn´t make it through an order of onion rings without calling attention to their shape and size, which would alway inspire him to tell a story about someone knew that looked like that onion ring. He only ate two kinds of pie, (hot pie and cold pie). I don´t think I will ever smell a cigarette and not think of him. Whatever I had a rough day at school, He would say, "Think about It this way. If it was a fish, would you keep it or throw it back?" He was a tough old goat, and he was my dad.
