Raul Gonzalez "R.H." was born in El Paso on March 11, 1939, to Raul and Mary Frances "Kika" Gonzalez. He became the man of the house and protector of his mom and younger sisters, Nina and Martha, at the very young age of 9 when their father died suddenly. As a young man, Raul held many jobs to support his family. He graduated from an El Paso High school, where he was president of the 1958 senior class. Raul married his best friend, Martha, in October 1961. In 1961, Raul became "R.H." when he joined the United States Postal Service as a distribution clerk. He was named the El Paso postmaster in 1991. He also served as the district manager in the Fort Worth, Dallas and San Antonio districts. He eventually returned to the DFW area, where he retired on April 28, 2001, after 40 years of service. Raul attended St Joseph Catholic Church in Waxahachie, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
His hard work, dedication, love and especially his faith served Raul in his family life and his career. He set a wonderful example of how to be a husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, uncle and worker for his children and five cherished grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Alejandro.
Survivors: Loving wife of 43 years, Martha; children, Raul H. Gonzalez Jr. and his wife, Kerry, of Arlington, Adrian Gonzalez and his wife, Kari, of Mansfield, and Andree Rivas and her husband, Richard, of Waxahachie; grandchildren, Andrew, Vanessa, Patrick, Isabel and Rebecca; sisters, Nina McReynolds and her husband, Joe, Martha Liesman and her husband, Harry, all of Corpus Christi; and numerous nieces and nephews.

We will always remember "R.H." for his wonderful smile and delightful sense of humor and true devotion to his family, God and the real meaning of life. It was an honor to be his friend and we send our love and sympathy to Martha and all the family. Even though we no longer live in Texas we will always be joined by a special friendship.

When I think of RH, I think of the Cowboys. He was one true lover of this football team and I'll never forget him telling me about the time him and his son went to the Superbowl. He was a pleasure to work for and certainly a man with character. God Bless the Gonzalez family and know that he is now in God's heaven smiling.

R.H., you were a special friend and fellow worker from the Postal Service. I will alway cherish the fond memories of having worked together as clerks in the El Paso, Texas Postal Service. We then together advanced into the upper levels of management. Our careers took us to different paths. I will always remember you for your thoughtfulness, your dedication and hard work. Your contributions in the Postal Service helped me succeed
just as it did you and other fellow workers in El Paso and Fort Worth. God bless you.
