Robert "Bob" Charles Briscoe, 88, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Graveside service: 10 a.m. Tuesday in Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel. Bob was born May 21, 1925, in Neosho, Mo., to Eula and Ben Briscoe. He proudly served our country in World War II as a radarman and trainer on the USS Palomas in the Pacific Fleet out of San Francisco, Calif. He married Margaret "Peggy" Drake on April 18, 1945, and together they had four children. He was a very dedicated family man, a kind man who always put others first and was an inspiration and role model to those who knew and loved him. He and his wife were members of Sandy Lane Christian Church where he worked beside Peggy for our Lord and Savior. Bob worked for the Fort Worth Division of the Postal Inspection Service, retiring on May 21, 1980, as their Senior Investigative Program analyst and auditor. He later became successful in his own real estate business. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; two brothers; his wife, Peggy; and daughter, Dianne Travis. Survivors: Relatives, daughter, Laura Somoge and husband, Rick, of Aledo; son, Donald Briscoe and wife, Judy, of Lakeside; son, Robert Briscoe and wife, Lee Ann, of Mansfield; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

My "new uncle bob", he told me he was, after learning that I was his brother Jim's daughter. He and Aunt Peggy visited me in Illinois in 1996, and I will be forever grateful for that, and for a chance to know him and learn the family history. I don't know how to reach the family, except to pay most heartfelt respect and condolences here. I loved talking with him and miss him very much. I remember his courage and great good cheer. I send loving thoughts and prayers to all the family.

I last saw my Great Uncle Bob back in 1992 when I drove from CA to TX, and spent an afternoon with him and Aunt Peggy. What nice people. Rest in Peace, Uncle Bob. Brian Vaughan, TX

Such a wonderful and loving man. He always thought of others first. He is now home with his beloved Peggy. Thank you for the many memories while at Sandy Lane Christian Church.

I will miss Bob's smile and the pleasant conversations we used to have. His work at the church was a blessing to all who knew him. He was a good person and will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I have a song book that was dedicated to Peggy's mother and would like you to have it. If you would contact me and tell me where to send it.
