Robert Hasler Obituary

Robert Kenneth "Bob" Hasler passed away Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, at the age of 96.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 12, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Bedford.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 101 Summit Ave., Suite 300, Fort Worth, Texas 76102, www.alz.org/northcentraltexas.
Bob was born Oct. 28, 1913, and lived most of his life in the Buffalo, N.Y., area. He spent his final decade in Bedford, surrounded by his daughter and son-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bob graduated from Lackawanna High School in 1932 and received B.S. (1936) and M.S. (1941) degrees from Canisius College. Later in his career, he returned to school to earn a doctorate in education from the University of Buffalo in 1969. He was a lifelong educator and spent almost 40 years as a teacher and administrator in the Buffalo area.
Bob was married for over 60 years to Marian Ruth Hasler who preceded him in death. Loved and admired by all who knew him, he was devoted to his family, his students and the communities in which he lived. He was an avid golfer and was active in numerous professional and philanthropic organizations, including the Knights of Columbus, the Lions Club and the Canisius College Alumni Board of Governors.
Survivors: Daughter, Marianne Cummings and son-in-law, Robert Cummings, of Bedford; grandson, William Cummings (Paula) of Hartford, Conn.; granddaughters, Karen Wright (Michael) and Alicia McGlinchey (Kevin) of Bedford; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Ethan Cummings of Hartford, Conn., Michaela, McCulle and Martin Wright, Megan, Aidan and Patrick McGlinchey of Bedford.

Mr. Hasler was an inspiration to me as I studied math under him. Many times I wanted to send a thank you note to him but never did. Mr. Hasler, I thank you for you ability to impart wisdom and knowledge to me.
