Bob Mackey with his fellow squadron carrier pilots. Bob was the lead of this formation

Not sure if two photos uploaded, but if they did, here is the explanations.
The group photo of pilots was of Bob´s fleet squadron, including his fellow pilots, and ground officers.
The picture of the jets in echelon has Bob leading this formation as a junior officer.
To his family, may peace be with you.

Among his peers, Bob was humble, often speaking of his own weaknesses, rather than bragging about his abilities, and doing so with humor, in a way to not differentiate his achievements from the potential that he felt all of his peers possessed. He knew his own self, and that is a rare thing amongst people.

Bob Mackey taught me Geometry & Calculus at Keller High School, 2009-2011. I was reflecting on Mr. Mackey for some reason and my heart sank of this news. He lived a great life, loved his students and taught with tremendous energy and brilliance. His navy stories he'd incorporated with learning were the best. I remember all the fundamentals he's taught me. Miss him dearly.

Though I've only now learned of Bob's passing, my heart is deeply saddened for his family, because Bob seemed to have an extra measure of life, so going on without him in our lives leaves a great unoccupied space.I knew Bob as a fellow Navy carrier pilot, and Bob was one of the best. He'd have been a great squadron skipper, air wing commander, ship's skipper and admiral, because his leadership style was thinking of others, leading by example, fair critiquing and lots of positive encouragement. As my squadron LSO, Bob knew each of our strengths and weaknesses, and was always there to help us aboard on the dark and stormy nights.Bob, I am saddened, but glad that I knew you.

Mr. Mackey was my freshman year Pre-AP Geometry teacher in Keller four years ago. His passion for his students, bright smile, and corny math jokes were a warm welcome in the harsh world of high school. Seeing his signature sailboat Polo shirt in the hallway as he continued to return as a substitute even after retiring always made my day so much more joyful. I remember Mr. Mackey with a full heart, and extend my deepest condolences to his family.

With much love,

Bob was a month younger than me, but I had to do an extra year at Heights so I graduated in '67. He was a fine person, and admired at Heights. My prayers to you all, and may the Lord ease the burden of your loss.
