Russell Harwell Obituary
Funeral: 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Phillip the Apostle Catholic Church in Lewisville. Interment: his ashes will be interred at Old Hall cemetery immediately following the service.
Russ was born Feb. 13, 1939, in Beggs, Okla., to Russell Norman Harwell Sr. and Alice Bush Harwell Larrew. He was a railroad man for almost 40 years and had been retired from BNSF Railroad for more than 15 years. He loved his family and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
After retirement, Russ loved to take long drives and discover places he had never been, visit local and historic landmarks and he loved to find a good old fashion hamburger. He was an avid Words with Friends player and made friends in other countries as a result. Russ was loved by many!
Russ was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Bernice Irene Talley Harwell; and sons, Jeffrey Harwell and Steven Harwell.
Survivors: Children, Pamela Harwell, Karen (Johnny) James and Bradford (Renee) Harwell; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, two half-brothers; and many other extended family members.
