Papa has been in the very real presence of Jesus for almost a year now, but to him it has all been just the first morning in Paradise.
We do miss this Prince of a man who shared so much with us.

I realize more and more everyday how incredible a man you are Papa. I didn't get to have as many life-conversations with you as I would have liked, but I will always remember/cherish the few that I did get to have with you. My prayer is that I can be half the man you were.

"Papa" was such a sweet dear man! He would always make me smile when I came into Bartley's! He will be missed greatly and Bartley's will not be the same! Owen Family, let me know if you need anything.

I walked in as a friend, but was never treated as a friend. I was only ever spoken to, and treated like family.
My heart is heavy for TJ's passing, and happy knowing he is with our Lord, and we will meet again with no worries. Well done, TJ, well done…

Dear Irma, Carlos, Lauana, Lynn, Marvin & Joy:
We send our condolences, prayers and concerns for your comfort and well being during this time of grieving. May you receive comfort, strength and courage from our Lord Jesus.

We first met "Papa" Owens, as we know him, in Grapevine in late 1986 at the Bartley's Bar-B-Que Restaurant located on Main Street. He befriended us as if he always knew us and treated us like family from the beginning of our introduction. He made sure we became well acquainted with all his family members because his family was that important to him. Each one of you also followed Papa Owens in treating us like family and there is no higher honor you could give to us.

To say that Papa Owens was kind, considerate, happy, well liked, funny, joyful and always ready to encourage you doesn't come even close to describing the "Prince" of a man Papa Owens is. It is true he always worked hard and never let on if anything really bothered him even when health issues threatened to side line him. Papa Owens always seemed to sense the needs of other people and put them before his own.

For over 24 years, whenever I would come into the restaurant during the very early morning hours, Papa Owens would always share a verse from the Bible to encourage me. In all those years, he never failed to have an excellent and very appropriate verse ready to share. He is one "Prince" in God's family who studied his Bible well and often.

I really miss those early morning life lessons from God's Word you shared often, so freely and loving with me, Papa Owens! I will never be able to repay you for all your kindness and love. But I take great strength and courage from your beautiful wife and children who have been a wonderful blessing to me and my wife for years now.

Papa Owens has no limits of any kind on him now in the presence of our Lord Jesus of Nazareth.---Love in Christ, Ken & Luella Jo Tharp - Montague on the Hill, Texas
