Thomas Stepp Obituary

Thomas Beauregard Stepp II, 91, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2010.
Graveside service: 10 a.m. Monday in Laurel Land Memorial Park of Fort Worth. Visitation: 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Laurel Land Funeral Home.
Tom was born March 5, 1919, in Fort Worth to Thomas Beauregard Stepp and Doris Reed Stepp. He graduated from Paschal High School. He was studying aviation engineering at Texas Christian University when he went to work at Convair, now Lockheed Martin, as an aviation engineer. Tom left Convair in 1941 to join the Army. He fought in Okinawa and Iwo Jima, receiving three Purple Hearts. In 1944, he returned to Fort Worth and again worked at Convair. In 1946, he became a chief engineer at Bell Helicopter. He received a certificate in engineering from North Texas Agricultural College, now the University of Texas at Arlington, and obtained his pilot's license.
In 1978, while still working at Bell, he started his own business, Plastic Forming Inc., a custom manufacturing company. Tom used his engineering expertise to design plastic parts for small businesses and large international companies. In 1979, he left Bell to devote full time to Plastic Forming, which today remains a thriving small company. He retired from Plastic Forming in the late 1980s.
Tom married Dorothy Quinn in 1948. They lived in the Fort Worth area their entire lives. While living in Keller, they belonged to First United Methodist Church of Keller. Tom was a devoted husband and was respected for his integrity. He loved to work, but in his spare time he was an avid golfer who won the Colonial Pro-Am more than once.
Survivors: Wife, Dorothy Stepp; sons, Thomas Beauregard "Bo" Stepp III of Modesto, Calif., and David Randall Stepp of Fort Worth; and granddaughter, Carrie Ann Stepp of Modesto, Calif.
