Tom was born in Ringgold on Jan. 20, 1925, and was a three-sport letterman at Nocona High School. He served in the Navy during World War II and was decorated for service aboard the USS Gunnel submarine in the Pacific. He married Evelyn Williams in 1948, and loved and cared for her until her death from Alzheimer's in 1996.
He earned a bachelor's degree from TCU in 1951 and a master's in physical education from Texas Wesleyan in 1952. He began his career with Gulf in Fort Worth shortly after graduation and worked in Roswell, N.M. and Crane before moving to their Permian Basin headquarters in Midland, retiring in 1983, as manager of financial operations. He moved to Burleson in 1985.
Tom was baptized in 1953, and was an active member of various United Methodist congregations, teaching Sunday school and serving on church councils. He was an avid golfer, and his loving, kind heart and compassionate spirit were distinguishing characteristics to all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Fenton and Jo Witt of Bowie; and his sister, Mary Marsh of Burleson.
Survivors: Wife, Carole Witt of Burleson; son Jim Witt and
daughter-in-law, Nancy, of Grand Prairie; daughter, Betty Frisbie and son-in-law, Charles, of Midland, and daughter Mary Love and son-in-law Frank, of Houston; stepson, Jeff Laughlin and wife, Carol, of Guam; grandchildren, Cara, Zachary and Thomas Frisbie of Midland; granddaughter, Caroline Love of Houston; stepgrandchildren, Rachael and Hannah Laughlin of Virginia and Devin Smith of Guam; and many other family members and friends.

I am very sorry for your loss. My great granddad Hogue Witt lived in Ringgold in the rock house on the left. My dad Kenneth Wayne Witt was born in Ringgold in 1928. So Tommy Witt and my dad Kenneth Witt probably played together. I also live in Burleson. AGain I am sorry for your loss.
