Wallace Counts Obituary

Wallace A. "Pepa" Counts, 87, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004.

Graveside service: 11 a.m. Saturday in Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Greenwood Funeral Home.

Wallace was born March 18, 1917, in Morgan Mills. He joined the Horse Cavalry in 1934 under the command of Gen. Wayne Wright. He served as bugler. In 1942 he was assigned to Kansas to open a bugler's school, where he met members of the Tommy Dorsey Band.

In 1963, he was assigned to Howard Hughes in California to work on airplanes. He retired from the U.S. Air Force Reserve in 1976. Wallace served in the civil service at Carswell until 1981.

Survivors: Wife, Virginia "Vicki" Counts of White Settlement; children, Bill Counts and wife, Patty, of Chattanooga, Tenn., Vicki Cantrell and husband, Ronnie, Wallace A. Counts Jr. and wife, Vicki, and Michael Counts and wife, Sherry, all of White Settlement; grandchildren, Vicki, Johnny, Michael, Katy, Stephen, Casey, Angela and Christina; six great-grandchildren; and brothers, Wayne and Ralph Counts.
