Walter Buis Obituary
November 10, 1940 - August 22, 2025
Fort Worth, Texas - Walter "Glenn" Buis, aged 84, a much-loved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on August 22, 2025, at James L. West after a courageous battle with dementia.
Glenn was born on November 10, 1940, in Fort Worth. After graduating from Arlington Heights High School in 1958, Glenn became a proud "Fightin' Texas Aggie". As a member of the Corps of Cadets, he made lifelong friends. He and his Aggie buddies enjoyed many reunions and travel opportunities together throughout the years.
For 60 years, he was happily married to his wife, Ann. They enjoyed gardening, working on their homes, hiking, and experiencing new things. Together, they traveled extensively - cruising, touring, and visiting places in the United States and Europe. They especially enjoyed Santa Fe and lost count after 30 visits to the area.
Glenn spent his 40+ year career as a stockbroker. He served as President of the Fort Worth Securities Dealers Association in 1980. He enjoyed following the stock market, working with people, and helping clients make informed investment decisions.
"Poppi" was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lorena Buis.
He is survived by his wife, Ann; daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Bill Merritt; brother and sister-in-law, James and Eileen Buis; and grandchildren, Alexa and Walker Merritt. He leaves many other family members who will miss his laughter and bright smile.
Glenn's family would like to thank all the members of the care team at James L. West, and especially those who work in the Pecos Unit. The entire James L. West team provided the most amazing, kind, and compassionate care to Glenn during his difficult journey. We are so grateful to all these very special people.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., for all of Glenn's family and friends in Greenwood Memorial Park, 3100 White Settlement Road, Fort Worth, TX 76107. The family will receive visitors onsite immediately after the service in Greenwood Funeral Home's Memorial Suites C & D, 3344 White Settlement Road, Fort Worth, TX 76107. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to the James L. West Center for Dementia Care.

I met Glen when I moved into the Oil & Gas Building in Fort Worth and his brokerage company was on the ground floor. While I can't remember the name of his employer, I will always remember Glen's communication skills, his friendliness, and willingness to answer questions for a fledgling investor.
