Walter J Mitchell HURST--Walter J Mitchell passed away peacefully Monday, July 2, 2018, at the age of 79. MEMORIAL SERVICE: 1 p.m. Monday, July 9, at St. Philip Presbyterian Church in Hurst, Texas; visitation follows in the Fellowship Hall. Walt was born Dec. 26, 1938, in Tylertown, Miss. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1964. Walt met his beloved wife, Anne, in Tulsa, Okla. They married Nov. 12, 1966, and celebrated 50 years together in Gulf Shores, Ala., in 2016. Walt was an elder and a deacon at St. Philip but loved to work and serve behind the scenes for any and all functions that the church was involved in. He was a man of many interests: he was an outdoorsman, an artist, an engineer and an all-around professional tinkerer. He loved his family well and especially loved his grandkids. SURVIVORS: He is survived by his wife, Anne; his daughter, Kimberly (Nick) of Herndon, Va.; his son, Matt (Ami) of Pascagoula, Miss.; his grandkids, Tyler (Amber) of Saginaw, Texas, Lorelei, Will and Gracelyn of Pascagoula, Miss.; and couldn't wait to meet his great-grandchild in December.
