Wilfred Allen Obituary

Wilfred O'Neil Allen passed away Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015, at the age of 74. Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday at Triple Cross Cowboy Church in Granbury. Interment: 10 a.m. Saturday in Whiteface City Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Triple Cross Cowboy Church. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Cancer Care or the Hood County Livestock Raisers Association. He was born Jan. 8, 1941, in Graham, the second son of J.W. and Leila Allen. He graduated from high school in Whiteface in 1959. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army with the 2nd Armored Division in Germany, 1960-1962. After returning to Texas, he worked for Dick Lowe on various ranches and then became a lineman for Southwestern Public Service. Neil married Bea Cochran of Aspermont in 1966. He was hired by Tri-County Electric Co-op in Azle three years later. In 1971, he opened the Tri-County Electric Co-op office in Granbury and served as district manager until his retirement in 2003. Neil and his family made their home in Granbury for 43 years. He was a member of Granbury Lions Club, Hood County Livestock Raisers, Lake Granbury Chamber of Commerce, Granbury Optimist Club, a board member of the Shanley House, county Democratic Party chairman, president of the Pirate Booster Club and board member and past president of the Hood/Somervell County Farm Bureau. Survivors: Wife, Bea; sons, Nick and James; daughter-in-law, Allison; grandson, Sam; granddaughter, Morgan; sister, Suzanne Lewis and husband, Jim; sister-in-law, Margaret Allen; brother-in-law, Steve Cochran and wife, Eileen; brother-in-law, Johnny Cochran and wife, Lajuana; and various nieces and nephews.

So sorry to hear this! I just found out, or I would have been at the funeral. Neil was a great man. My condolences to the family.

Bea, I was so sorry to hear of your loss. Neil was a good friend, husband, father, and community leader. I always felt it was a previlage to have worked with him both at Tri-County and during the Hood County Livestock Show. I hold him in the highest esteem. May God comfort you and your family during this difficult time.
