William Watson Obituary

William A. "Bill" Watson, 82, of Denton, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007, at a Denton medical center.

Memorial service: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Southmont Baptist Church. Dr. Larry Reynolds will officiate. Interment: will precede the service in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.

Memorials: may be made to Southmont Baptist Church, 2801 Pennsylvania, Denton 76205.

Mr. Watson was born Dec. 26, 1924, in Cooper to James Jesse and Nancy Jane Basham Watson. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was married to Melba Beard.

He was a retired federal savings and loan examiner and co-owned a real estate appraisal business with Melba. He also was retired from the Lake Lewisville Fishing Barge. He was a founding member and deacon of Southmont Baptist Church.

Bill was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.

Survivors: His wife, Melba Watson of Denton; daughter, Darla and John O. Jones of Fort Worth; son, Charles M. "Chuck" and Lynet Perkins of Houston; sisters, Wanda Polnick of Pace, Fla., Lucille Johnson of Huntsville, Ala.; grandchildren, Blake Anderson, Alexandrea Perkins, Aubrey Jones and Sydney Rose Perkins.
