Zora Mae Bowerman was born May 17, 1913, to Alice Idella Parker and Alonso Vurl Cato in Cullman County, Ala.
Zora and Hulie were married in 1933, in Alabama. They moved to Grand Prairie in 1936, and founded Grand Prairie Rubber Company in 1940. It later became Oil States Industries after the family moved to Arlington in 1953. Upon the death of her husband in 1966, Zora became the chairman of the board of Oil States Industries, where she endeared herself to all the employees with her friendly and gracious nature.
Zora was a devoted Christian and life-long Baptist, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Arlington since 1953, where she never missed Sunday school and church services until failing health kept her at home. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend - we all mourn her death and shall miss her kind and loving ways greatly.
Music had always been a wonderful part of her life. She had played the piano all her life and in her youth, had played for singings in Alabama for a quartet made up of three brothers and her sister. There was never a family gathering that did not include wonderful and happy music.
Zora was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hulie Emory Bowerman, and much loved daughter, Sarah Alice Britton. The youngest of six children, she was also preceded in death by brothers, Elmer Cato, Oscar Cato, Alton Cato, Vurl Cato, and sister, Sarah Harris.
Survivors: Daughter, Jeanette Haddock of Arlington; son, Bill Bowerman and wife, Chris, of Arlington; son-in-law, Fred Britton of Bedford; grandchildren, Jim Haddock and wife, Lara, of Arlington, Robert Haddock of Arlington, Chad Bowerman and wife, Hilary, of Fort Worth, Mandy and husband, Matt Elmore, of Dallas, Margaret and husband, Gregg Bomkamp, of Driftwood, Britt and wife, Tonia Britton, of Colleyville; and great-grandchildren, James Haddock, Jack Haddock, Walker Bowerman, Brock Bomkamp, Alice Bomkamp, Trey Britton, Bob Britton, Charlie Britton and Jack Britton.

Dear Bill, Jeanette, and our dear Bowerman "Family",
Pat and I are deeply saddened at the passing of one of the sweetest, dearest, most gracious ladies we have ever known. We felt her love so much that she will always hold the place of "Mamma B." in our hearts. She was such a fine Christian lady who loved family, friends, church, music, flowers,a snowy day, and life itself. We will miss our visits, late night talks on the phone, and the knowledge that she was always praying for us here. What a legacy she has handed down to her family and all who knew her! We feel truly blessed to have been touched by her lovely life.

Mrs. Bowerman was always a blessing when she came to have her eye examination. She was always sweet and never complaining, we could all take a lesson from her. God bless you all and make your memories much more than the pain of your loss. Linda

Dear Bill, Jeanette, and Family,
I am saddened to hear of the passing of one of the most thoughtful and gracious women I've ever had the privilege of knowing. Both your mother and father were greatly loved by my own parents, Henard and Laura East. My dad loved the way that your dad didn't "treat him like a preacher"--and he was a constant source of joy to my dad during his lifetime. After his death, my dad spoke of him often and how much he missed him! Your mother, wonderful Zora, continued throughout their lives to be a source of love, joy, and comfort to them---and they both loved and enjoyed her so much. I know they are rejoicing in heaven today to get to be with their very special friends, the Bowermans!
We will miss her---but the memory of her will live on in the lives of such a wonderful family. She truly exemplified the Proverbs 31 woman!
With love and wonderful remembrances of your family,
Donna East Hill
