My family's prayers are with you in this time of sorrow.

Knowing Artie, Lloyd, and Michael mainly through my older brothers, I know that Dr. Clark (along with my own father) set a high standard of fatherhood and commitment to service that is so critical to turning boys to men and strangers to friends.

We are all better for having known him.

Dear Family and Friends~~~~

I was so saddened today to hear of Dr. Clark's passing. What a wonderful man and outstanding pediatrician he was. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him and all of us in the professional circle that knew how dedicated he was to the little ones he cared for. Though we have been away from the Columbus area for a few years, the memories of the fine man and doctor I once knew remain. Know that he is in Heaven taking care of all the little ones there that have gone before him and making them smile with his beautiful voice as he slips that shot to them.

I wish to send my prayers to the family of Dr. Clark - he was so special - he was not a doctor you chose to forget - rather when you grew older you loved to remember that whistle as he entered the room - needle behind his back and ever so gently give you your shot - each time I drive pass the office on Long Street I think about Dr. Clark and laugh as I think about how each time he could always fool you - he did spend precious time with each patient giving each the same care - some twenty two years later he pierced my daughter's ears - the world has truly lost a great mentor.

Dear Artie, Lloyd, and Michael:

Uncle Arthur was so much a part of the village that raised me. As a child, I can't remember a holiday or family occasion that he and Aunt Thelma weren't a part of. Your parents, my parents, and the Lacour's were inseparable friends who knew how to enjoy each others company. How could I ever forget those annual overnighters every New Years Eve at our house? When my father became ill, Uncle Arthur was so wonderful to us and was an incredible supportive friend to my mother after Dad passed. Although I last spoke to him eariler this year, my last visit with Uncle Arthur was two years ago when he came to Philadelphia for the Boule and I took him to the airport. That time will remain a special memory. My thoughts and love are with each of you. Please know you can call on me for anything you need.

My deepest sympathy to Lloyd and the entire Clark Family in the homegoing of your loved one. Dr Clark was my pediatrician as well as my brother from infancy thru teenage years. I will never forget the visit’s to his office. How he always tried to trick you with a lollipop in one hand a needle in the other and his infamous goggles and jesters. As a adult I realize what he was doing but as a child those tricks no longer worked after about age 9 (smile). He was a great man and Doctor and will be missed. May God Bless the family and give you what you need in your time of sorrow.

Sincerely,

Debbie Hughley (ODJFS)

To the Clark Family, I just want the family of Dr. Clark to know that I know he will be missed in your lives but he will also be missed in ours. My children still talk about how they would get shots and didn't even know they were getting them. Dr. Clark was a parental figure for all of us (old school people). I just want you to know that I ran into Dr. Clark twice in the last six months and I let him know personally how much we loved him and appreciated him for all his hard work in the community and in our childrens lives. Thank you Dr. Clark, your life will live on forever in us. To his family thank you for sharing him with us. With all my love and prayers, Kimberly, Brandon and Brittany Reeder God Bless You All!

To the Clark family:

The legacy of your dear father will edure forever in our hearts. He was our family's pediatrician for my eldest (32), to my youngest (13). The two most endearing moments with your father occurred when he innoculated my eldest and youngest sons. My eldest son, as an infant, laughed while receiving his first vaccination. Dr. Clark proclaimed, in amazement, that that was a first for him. Last year, we both had to wrestle my youngest son in order for him to receive his last shot. By then, he was wary of Dr. Clark concealing needles, and would try to look behind "Doc" to see if that was the case. Afterwards, Dr. Clark and I would exchange furtive glances concealing our desire to burst out in laughter. He was a great, great man. God bless you and your family.

My most heartfelt sympathies go out to the family of Dr. Arthur L. Clark, especially to Artie, Lloyd and Mike. I have known the Clark family for more than 40 years. I was raised in the beloved community of Shepard on the East Side of Columbus where my family and the Clarks were neighbors until the Clarks moved to the Berwick/Berwyn area in the early ‘70s. Dr. Clark and Mrs. Clark treated my brothers and me as extended family. I fondly remember how proud I felt as a child when Dr. Clark entrusted me to take care of the family dog, Champ, when the Clarks traveled on vacation.

Although Dr. Clark was not our family pediatrician, he took care of me without hesitation several times when I injured myself horsing around in the neighborhood, as young boys will often do. Whether I was tumbling down concrete stairs or falling through plate glass windows, Dr. Clark patched me up with a wink and a smile. Dr. Clark was warm, caring and generous towards everyone. Moreover, as a Black man with a professional degree, Dr. Clark inspired many young men in the neighborhood to aspire to lofty career goals. As a role model, Dr. Clark was “cool”—he had a beautiful family, he understood kids, he loved jazz and he was very outgoing. Dr. Clark had “style.”

Dr. Clark has crossed over and we mourn his passing along with his family. He left us a wonderful human legacy that my generation will carry on and pass to the generations that follow.

To the family of Dr Clark

No one could ever replace such a wonderful man and doctor. I grew up knowing only Dr Clacrk and was very upset when I was finally too old to continue my care with him.

My children were able to experience him for the first few years of their lives. My daughter still says that she wish she was still able to have him as her "Doc".

To the Family of Arthur L. Clark, who will truly be missed my the Columbus community. What a wonderful pediatrician, you can not beat his experience and knowledge. Many memories especially knowing that after the whistling came the shot. He was my pediatrician back in mid 1960's, and there was no hesitation who my daughters doctor would be when she arrived. We showed up for her last appointment in May 2004 knowing he would be retiring soon, with a little hope he would change his mind. May God's mercy sustain the family during this time.

Dr. Clark was one of the most brilliant yet gentle and wonderful people we've ever known.

He never made a difference in how he treated his fellow human beings.... he treated everyone with respect and kindness.

We will never forget his good nature and that "mischevious twinkle" in his eyes at the various Boule functions. Dr. Clark could get the party started!

I am saddened to hear that Dr. Clark has passed. He was a big part of my life-from being my doctor when I was a child, to being my children's doctor and one of my grandchildren's doctor. He was wonderful in that he was caring, would listen to our fears and could diagnose quickly and accurately. He will always be remembered by my family. Please remember the good times and know that he's in heaven doctoring on children there!
