Beatrice Buchsieb Obituary
Buchsieb Beatrice Mae "Bebe" (Lawyer) Buchsieb was born January 10, 1932 to Jay R. and Grace (Earnhart) Lawyer in Columbus, Ohio. She passed away on December 26, 2015 at The Beckett House in New Concord, Ohio, surrounded by her loved ones. "Bebe", as she was known to all who knew and loved her, graduated from Central High School and then The Ohio State University School of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Degree. Bebe began her nursing career as Head Nurse of the Maternity Floor at The Ohio State University Hospitals. Bebe married Richard H. ("Dick") Buchsieb on January 15, 1955. They traveled together to Fort Sill, Oklahoma, where Bebe worked as an RN with the Kiawah Indian Hospital. She and Richard then moved to the Washington, DC area, where their first child, Carol, was born in nearby La Plata, Maryland. After returning to Columbus and then moving to Cambridge, Ohio, Bebe devoted her time to raising her family and volunteering with community activities. She returned to nursing in 1981 and worked for Bethesda Hospital (now Genesis) in Zanesville, Ohio until retirement. In 2011, Bebe and Dick were honored at the Governor's Mansion by the Ohio Department on Aging for their years of volunteer service to the community. Bebe is survived by her husband of 60 years, Richard; and their four children, Carol (Bill) Padden of Cambridge, Ohio, Sara (Michael) Petievich of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, Richard H. (Erin) Buchsieb, Jr. of Columbus, Ohio, and Laura Rumberg of Poland, Ohio; along with their five grandchildren, Emma Rumberg, Zoe Petievich, Anna Rumberg, George Rumberg, and Willem Buchsieb. Bebe is also survived by her sister, Jane Robinson of Sylvis, Illinois; and her nephew, Jay Robinson; as well as her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Walter C. and Betty Buchsieb of Columbus, Ohio, and their children, Chuck (Patricia) Buchsieb and Christine (Henri-Jean) Bardon. Calling hours will be at the Bundy-Law Funeral Home (120 North 11th Street, Cambridge, Ohio) on Tuesday, December 29th from 4-8 p.m. with the funeral service to be held on Wednesday, December 30th at the First United Methodist Church (641 Steubenville Avenue, Cambridge, Ohio) beginning 11 a.m., music to start at 10:15 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Bebe's name to the Guernsey County OSU Alumni Club Scholarship Fund (c/o 65300 Larrick Ridge Road, Cambridge, OH 43725), the First United Methodist Church (641 Steubenville Avenue, Cambridge, OH 43725), or to the charitable organization of choice.
