Bernice Knecht Obituary
Bernice "Bernie" Hicks Knecht, 88, of Westerville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Robert, and daughter Gloria Jean McQueen. Survived by son, Robert (Karen) Knecht of Buena Park, CA and their children, Denora (Donald) Cessna and Jennifer Knecht; daughter, Marilyn Cantrell of Columbus, OH and her daughter, Rebecca (Brent) Momany; daughter, Mary (Brian) Ham of Cardington, OH and their children, Brandy (Ian) Frias, Derek Hollobaugh, Kari Hollobaugh, Michael Ham, Trisha (Jake) Van Gundy and Dr. Ashley (Chris Mack) Ham; daughter, Jennifer (Fred) Schippa of San Diego, CA and their children, Gabe and Brody Schippa; great-grandchildren, Dakota, Austin and Sophia Frias and Dylan and Danica Cessna; and her dearest friend of 83 years, Hilda McDonald of Sparta, NJ. Bernie graduated from Penn State University and was a member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) for many years. She was involved with several local charities and spent her time sewing, quilting, playing pickle ball, and line dancing. She was a dedicated explorer and traveled to all 50 states with her family. At her request, the family will not be holding any formal services. They will honor her memory on March 18 with family and friends at her neighborhood community clubhouse of 20 years. Friends, if they wish, may contribute to Creative Living, 150 West 10th Ave., Columbus, OH 43201-2093 in Bernie's honor.
