Carole Hochman Obituary

HOCHMAN Carole Hochman, age 85, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2012. Preceded in death by her husband Maurice Hochman and sisters Ethel (Charles) Berkowitz, Ruth Hoffman, and Edith (Meyer) Berkowitz. Survived by her daughters, Ann (Donald) Kahn and Ronni (Paul) Richards; grandsons, Jason and Jeremy (Angela) Kahn; and great-grandson, Dexter. Carole, an upstate Utica, New York girl, lived a modest life with her husband from Washington Heights, Murray. He was the love of her life, and he swept her off her feet with his handsome features and warm personality. They were such a beautiful sight gliding across the dance floor. She wanted little except for the health and prosperity of her close knit family. The depths of her love for her family, especially her doting daughters and their husbands; her grandchildren; and great-grandchild, was beyond measure. Late in life she found a second family who loved her deeply: the residents and staff of Creekside at the Village, a wonderful independent living facility in Columbus, Ohio. She charmed the staff with her girlish smile and gained the admiration of all with her fierce determination to remain independent as long as possible. In the gloaming of her life, Carole wished she could give her years to people who needed them. Although she wanted to watch her great grandchild grow and play, she was grateful that she had the opportunity to watch her grandsons become fine men of character. Without a doubt, it was her daughters Ronni and Ann who held a special place in her heart. They spoke with her several times a day, always ready to ensure she was safe, comfortable and enjoying life to the fullest. Interment was held in New York on June 14, 2012. Calling hours at Creekside at the Village, 2200 Welcome Place, Columbus, Ohio 43209, will be from 12Noon-3 and from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 19. Evening calling hours will conclude with a Memorial Service. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Carole's memory to the Life Enhancement Programs at Creekside at the Village.
