Carolyn Rutherford Obituary

Rutherford Carolyn Ruth Rutherford, age 74, of Colorado Springs, CO, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 13, 2015, surrounded by her family. She was born in Long Beach, CA on July 8th, 1941 to Paul Ruby and Aldine Catherine Bauman. In 1946 she moved with her family to Winona Lake, IN., where she would eventually graduate from Grace College. She then earned a Masters in Elementary Education from Indiana University. After school, she joined the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ, who sent her to The Ohio State University to minister to students there. While there, she met Arch Rutherford, and the two of them were married on June 10th, 1967. Their wedding began a 48 year adventure for the two of them, including hiking for their honeymoon, motorcycling all over the country, traveling the world together and serving the Lord through all the ministries that He entrusted to them. After they were wed, Arch began seminary and Carolyn taught for four years in the Dallas Public School System. After their time in Dallas, Carolyn took great joy in sharing in each of Arch's ministries. They served the Lord at the Chapel in Akron, OH, the Union Missionary Baptist Church in Chesapeake, OH, Grace Baptist Church in Bozeman, MT, Coast Bible Church in San Juan Capistrano, CA, and most recently at BEE World in Colorado Springs. Carolyn had a true servant's heart, picking up any ministry in the church that no one else wanted to do. She had the remarkable trait of genuinely being interested in people and caring for other's needs. While in Bozeman, Carolyn and Arch were blessed with adopting two children, and Carolyn loved her kiddos. Carolyn had many interests and hobbies, but above all, her defining interest was her love for God, her desire to spend time in His word, and her dedication in growing each day to be more like our Savior, Jesus Christ. Carolyn is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Arch Rutherford; daughter, Amy (Kevin) Reed; son, Craig (Erika) Rutherford; granddaughters, Marley, Kaylyn, Julia, and Charlotte; as well as extended family and many friends. Carolyn loved her family and was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren. She was a true woman of God who touched many with His love. She will be missed beyond measure by her family and many others. Her family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on FRIDAY at the RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 515 High St, Worthington, OH 43085, (614)-885-4006 where the Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. on SATURDAY, DECEMBER 19, 2015, with Pastor Jim Custer officiating. Private family burial will be held at Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Carolyn's family would appreciate donations to BEE World http://www.beeworld.org/#/donate. Condolences to the family may be left at www.rutherfordfuneralhomes.com.

Frank and I were so sorry to hear about Carolyn. We were members at Coast Bible Church when you and Carolyn were serving there. She was the sweetest lady and lived her life witnessing Jesus in everything she did. We are so sorry for your loss. May God bless and strengthen you in the days ahead.

Dear Arch and Family,

Saved the Rutherford Christmas Report to open and read on Christmas day, knowing nothing about sweet Carolyn's call from our heavenly Father.

Remember Carolyn's beauty, grace and loving kindness during the years she was by your side, when you were Pastor for the Ohio Missionary Baptist Church.

Jim and Dottie Kingery invited us to the Ohio church years ago and it was such a joy to meet both of you. You were both wonderful blessings to me and Victor Young, during his illness and time of need.

Am so sorry for your loss, dear Arch. Will keep you and the children in my prayers.

Loving you and your family in Christ, Lou Young-Willard

Dear Rutherford Family,
We were saddened to hear of Carolyn's passing. We knew Carolyn from Brethren Youth Conference and Grace College. It was so good seeing and talking with her at our 50th Grace College Reunion. After our reunion she started sending us your newsletter. We enjoyed hearing about your work and family. There was always a personal note along with newsletter. May God comfort you and your family.

We have never met, Arch, but were informed of Carolyn's home going and read the obituary. Carolyn's Mother was from my home church in PA so when she was but a child she came to visit with Dad and Mom and we became friends as kids. When I came to Grace in Winona Lake in 1961 our paths once again crossed. I look back with good memories of the Bauman family and was pleased to know Paul and Aldeane and there family as dear friends. Our sympathy to you, Brother in the loss of your dear wife,
