Catherine Brookover Obituary

BROOKOVER Catherine C. Brookover, age 86, Sunday, April 23, 2006, Mt. Carmel East Hospital. Retired teacher Columbus Public Schools. Member Livingston United Methodist Church. She was an active church member over the years working on the administrative board, visiting shut-ins, and transporting friends to Sunday school and church. Until Catherine's death, she was a volunteer in the church food pantry and treasurer of her Sunday school class. After retirement from teaching, Catherine became an active volunteer with Lifecare Alliance and until her death worked once weekly for the nurse at Marion Square Senior Center. In 1994, Catherine received the Catherine Gillie Award for Commitment to Senior Wellness. Preceded in death by husband Charles G. Brookover, sister Brida Collins. Survived by daughters, Catherine (Keith) Martin of Blanchester, OH, Elizabeth Graham of Ashville, NC; sons, John L. (Helen) Graham of Reno, NV, James N. Graham of Suisun, CA, and William A. Graham of San Diego, CA; 10 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; sister, Erma Moore of Grove City, OH; nephew, Joseph (Sue) Moore of Grove City, OH; niece, Laurie (Jim) Hamilton of Grove City, OH. Funeral service Thursday 3 p.m., (NOTE CHANGE OF DAY), EVANS FUNERAL HOME, 4171 E. Livingston Ave., where friends may call 2 hours prior to service. Pastor Jim Donnan officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Livingston United Methodist Church in her memory.

I will always remember my visits with Catherine's family... I have many memories of special times in Columbus with my cousins!! Sorry that I can't make the services, but all of you will be in my thoughts and prayers at this time...

Catherine was one of the very first people to greet us and welcome us to Livingston Church when we came 15 years ago. We have always admired her grace and elegance. She was a very classy lady and we will miss her warm smile.
