Christopher Thimmes Obituary

THIMMES Christopher M. Thimmes, 55, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully Monday, November 3, 2008 at the Fairfield Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born on November 15, 1952 to Marcella (Joos) Thimmes and the late James F. Thimmes. Chris was a graduate of Bishop Fenwick High School class of 1971. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, where he served on the parish council. He was a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus as well as a member of the Elks Lodge. Chris was employed by Burtic Jewelers for 20 years and he was a Financial Advisor at Ameriprise for 15 years. His joys in life were family, friends, coaching, singing, and listening to Frank Sinatra. Chris is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Mary Ann (Smith) Thimmes; daughters, Jody (Dan) Boyden and Angel (Jared) Springer, both of Lancaster; son Troy Thimmes of Columbus; seven grandchildren, Isabella, Lillian, Brandt, Ava, Josephine and Gianna Boyden, Veronica Springer; mother, Marcella Thimmes of Lancaster; brothers, James J. Thimmes of Columbus and Timothy (Sandy) Thimmes of Lancaster; aunts, Betty Foreman and Jenny Joos of Lancaster and Mary Ann Thimmes of Vancouver, Washington; several sister and brother in laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and godchildren. He was preceded in death by his father James F. Thimmes. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 7, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Lancaster with Fr. Donald E. Franks as Celebrant. Burial to follow at St. Mary Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Thursday, November 6 from 3-9 p.m. at the SHERIDAN FUNERAL HOME in Lancaster. A vigil service will be held at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday with Deacon Frank Sullivan officiating. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Mary Church or to the William V. Fisher Catholic Athletic Association. The family extends a special thank you to all the E.M.Ts and all the nurses and doctors at Fairfield Medical Center especially Dr. Nickison and Dr. Parker for the special care that Chris was given. The family would also like to show their appreciation for the prayers and support that has been given to them by family and friends. Dear George, remember no Man is a failure who has friends.
