David May Obituary

Dublin - David Randall May, of Dublin, Ohio, known affectionately as Dave, passed away on August 27, 2024, in Columbus, Ohio, at the age of 77. Born on May 4, 1947, in Akron, Ohio Dave is survived by his loving wife Stephanie, and his much-loved little dog Lucy. Dave was the son of the late Audrey Wanamaker May and Glendon Jay May. He was raised in Marion, Ohio, along with his two surviving older brothers: Roger Lee, of Saugatuck Michigan, and William Glenn of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Dave has two sons: Randall Alan of Cumming, Georgia; and Scot Patrick of Denver, Colorado; and four grandchildren, Grace (Randall and Heather); and Charlie, Katie, and Andrew (Scot and Jenny)

Dave had an excellent sense of humor and a very contagious laugh. People had fun when they were with Dave. Dave was also a Buckeye through and through! He graduated from Marion Harding High School where he was an outstanding football player, having set a defensive record in one game by having 22 unassisted tackles. Dave earned a bachelor's degree and MBA from The Ohio State University and was a Certified Public Accountant. Dave spent a number of years in financial positions in Columbus Banks, Borden's, and as C.F.O. of Big Drum (Drumstick ice cream novelty). In 1991 Dave along with brother Bill and two other close working Associates became a Partner, Chief Financial Officer, and part owner of Wilshire Corporation, a key supplier of soft drink, juice dispensing, and ice making equipment to Coca Cola, Pepsi Cola and many fast-food chains, including McDonald's, Burger King, and Wendy's. Dave also served six years in The Ohio Army National Guard during the Vietnam War era.

Dave is being cremated and no funeral service will take place. A Celebration of Dave's Life will be held later. Further details regarding memorial services will be provided by the family at a later date. Gifts to honor Dave's memory can be made to Ohio's Hospice of Central Ohio, or Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy Research Mass General Hospital.

Dave was a great guy - we had some great fun together. He taught me to play ping pong at rhe WMCA. My thoughts are with his family.
