Sylvia and family, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss of my favorite North High teacher, Dup. He was a great mentor whether it was in Speech and Drama class, after school rehearsals for plays and prep for speech contests around the state on Saturdays, or serving as the babysitter for a young couple (Don and Sylvia) in a small apartment on a few occasions. His friendship and interest in me served me well in my 50-plus years of public speaking as a local church pastor. Often I would think of lessons Dup taught me in my formative years of speaking. He was a good friend to me. My prayers are with you in this loss.

Sylvia, your husband, Dup to many of us, was my favorite teacher at North. Whether it was in Speech and Dramatics class, after school rehearsals for a play, getting ready for a Saturday forensic competition, or even babysitting for your first born in that small apartment, he was pouring himself into me and others. Those lessons served me well as a public speaker for over 50 years as a pastor. He was a real friend to me. My prayers are with you. At this time.

Sylvia, Mr. Dupre, Dup, was my favorite teacher at North in Speech and Drama, directing plays and National Forensics contests, and even serving as a baby sitter for him and Sylvia a few times. I have used much of what he taught me throughout my career in public speaking as a pastor for over 50 years. Many times I recalled lessons he gave to me personally. He was a real friend.

Your husband and father was one of my favorite teachers at North High School. He was my Drama teacher and I found him to be trustworthy, funny, and people-smart. He knew a lot more about us than we ever guessed and he knew how to treat us with respect. I can still see him sitting in that relaxed way he had about him, smiling and trying to get us to share our thoughts with him. Sometimes we had some great conversations even if they had nothing to do with drama class. I hate to think what he went home and told you each night about us. He was a special fellow and I am so sorry for your loss. But he lived a long, full life and was able to give all of you his love.

Mr Dupre was my beloved drama teacher at Columbus (Ohio) North High School 1963/64). It was while in his class Nov 22, 1963 that we found out President John F Kennedy
was assassinated. Mr Dupre handled the news with compassion as we were dismissed. He was always upbeat, fun, encouraging to all of us. Knowledgeable. It was my favorite class. Im glad to know he lived long so he could enjoy retirement and family time.

This is the way I'll always remember him. He was so respectful of his students, the first teacher who treated us as adults. We all adored him. He made such a difference in so many lives, including mine.

My thoughts and prayers with the family. He was one of my favorite teachers at Whetstone. I had him for English one year and he twisted my arm to take drama to get me out of my shyness. I was just thinking about him the other day.

Condolences to the family. I think of him often since graduating in 1964. He got me my first job on Mackinac Island at Selma's Fudge Shop. Two summers of wonderful memories! Susan (Foutz) Alley.
