Edward Balkenhol

Balkenhol Edward J. Balkenhol, age 98, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 14, 2014. He retired from Yenkin Majestic Paint Corporation. Ed was an avid tennis player and fostered the love of tennis among his children, grandchildren, and friends. He remained active playing tennis into his seventies and continued thereafter to watch it on T.V. He always enjoyed maintaining the outdoor landscape of his home in Gahanna that he shared with his wife, Louise, until her death and then his condo in Reynoldsburg that he shared with his wife, Kay. Even in his later years as his body became tired, he would take "walks" outside by guiding his wheelchair to complete "laps" around a tennis court near his daughter, Kathy and son-in-law Ralph's, home in Lancaster, Ohio where he was cared for during the later years of his life. Preceded in death by his wife Louise Novak and his wife Kay Barber, sister Catherine Tracy, son Thomas Balkenhol and daughter Susan Beal. He is survived by son, Jerry (Sharon) Balkenhol; daughters, Kathy (Ralph) Buckland and Kris (Steve) Levy; step-son, Michael (Linda) Barber; daughter-in-law, Peggy Balkenhol; and many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his family. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Saint John XXIII, Catholic Church, 5170 Winchester Southern Rd.
