Endrene Mohacsy Obituary

MOHACSY Endrene Mohacsy, born Lea Walter, 84, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2009 at Zusman Community Hospice in Columbus following a 4 year battle with cancer. Lea is preceded in death by the love of her life, Endre, her husband of nearly 51 years. Lea was born and raised in Maramaros Sziget, Romania. She lost both parents and four siblings in the Holocaust. She has one surviving sister, Elizabeth, who lives in Israel with her family. Lea met her husband Endre in Budapest, Hungary, where she worked in the film industry. They had three children together: Rozalia, who died at the age of four months, Lilian and Hedvig, who survive her. Lea moved to the United States to be close to her daughters in 2005, and spent time in both Columbus and Phoenix. She was a patient at James Cancer Hospital. She made many friends during the three years while she lived in the United States. Lea adored her grandchildren, David, Eva and Anna. She loved nature and enjoyed long walks. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and will be missed by all who knew her. A memorial service will be held at 12Noon Friday, January 9th at Wexner Heritage Village, 1151 College Ave, with Rabbi Sharon Mars officiating. Family and friends are asked not to buy flowers, instead those who wish, may make a donation to the Zusman Community Hospice, 1151 College Ave., Columbus, OH 43209 or the James Cancer Hospital, 300 West 10th Avenue, Suite 519, Columbus, OH, 43210.
