Frank Clinton Obituary

CLINTON Frank Harding Clinton, age 87, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2007, in the Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus. He was born in Warren, Pennsylvania, July 17, 1917, the son of Oscar and Matilda Clinton, and lived his early childhood in Northwestern Pennsylvania prior to moving to Chaffee in Western New York. He lived most of his life in Delevan and later Buffalo, until moving to Dublin, Ohio in 2004. He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II with travels to the Pacific that included Hawaii, New Caledonia, and Guam. Upon his return from the war he married Ester M. Hakes, with whom they raised a son, Steven K. Clinton, until her untimely death from leukemia. Like his father and many in his extended family, Frank worked for the railroads, serving the Pennsylvania, New York Central and Penn Central Railroads for over 4 decades. Upon retirement he devoted much time to reading the works of great philosophers, politicians, and scientists including Lucretius, Robert G. Ingersoll, Richard Leakey and Einstein. In his later years he successfully battled prostate cancer and provided devoted care to his second wife of over 35 years, Mary F. Clinton (Greco) who preceded him in death from Alzheimer's Disease in 2004. He leaves a son, Dr. Steven K. Clinton, and his wife, Dr. Sandra K. Kostyk, as well as his grandsons, Evan Michael Clinton and Alan Gregory Clinton, all of Dublin, Ohio. Frank will be forever remembered for his compassion and efforts on behalf of those who suffer from political, social and economic injustice. He reminded us continually that a life will not be measured in years alone, or by material wealth, but by accomplishment and devotion to making this a better world. Service will be private and he will be interred in Sardinia Cemetery, Sardinia, New York. The family requests donations in his memory to the Prostate Cancer Prevention Fund (302034) of the James Cancer Hospital at The Ohio State University (Office of Development, Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital, 300 West Tenth Avenue, Columbus, OH 43210). Arrangements were completed by W.S. DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 358 W. Main St., Arcade, NY 14009.
