H. Harste Obituary

Harste, H. Richard
1931 - 2021
H. Richard "Dick" Harste, 89, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, of Dublin, OH, passed away May 5, 2021 in Dublin, OH. He was born June 6, 1931 in Toledo, OH. He was preceded in death by his father Adolf, his mother Jane, and his wife Patricia of 51 years. Dick served in the Korean War from 1954-1957, moving his way up the ranks to technical sergeant prior to his honorable discharge. A proud University of Toledo and Pi Kappa Alpha alum, he worked as a sales manager in packaging at Owens-Illinois for many years before retiring in 1986. He is survived by his sister, Anne Fleck; his son, Rick (Paula) Harste; his daughter, Kate Wahlers; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Dick was a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, as well as a devoted friend. His sense of humor, kind spirit, and generosity are deeply missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lakota Children's Enrichment, an organization Dick generously donated to for many years. Funeral service will be held at Resurrection Cemetery in Lewis Center, OH at 11am on May 22, 2021. To send an online condolence, please visit www.rutherfordfuneralhomes.com.
