Helen Roscoe Obituary

ROSCOE Helen A. Roscoe, 97 of Columbus, died Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Kobacker House. She was born July 29, 1915 in Columbus to the late Orin V. and Hazel M. Roof Earhart. Helen is survived by daughters, H. Yvonne (William) Baker and Nancy A. Heber, all of Columbus; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Lisa Corbett) Lenart, of Denver, Colorado, Karen (Jeffrey) Groff, of Columbus, Brian (Mia Foley) Heber, of Shawnee, Colorado and John (Sarah) Lenart, of Dawson City, Yukon Territory, Canada; great-grandchildren, Joel Tessier, of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, David Tessier, of Perth, Australia, Daniel Groff, of Columbus and Jessica Groff, of Columbus; brother, Robert (Eileen) Earhart, of Denver, Colorado; grandson-in-law, David Tessier; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband John R. Roscoe, granddaughter Sharon Tessier, son-in-law Robert Heber, brother Edwin Earhart, and sister Ruth Moon. Helen was a piano student at the Morrey School of Music from 1924 to 1930. In 1927, she won a Silver Medal and a Bronze Medal in a city wide piano playing competition sponsored by The Columbus Dispatch. She was a 1932 graduate of Columbus North High School; attended The Ohio State University and Franklin University. Helen was a member of King Avenue United Methodist Church for over 75 years; Riverside Methodist Hospital Sewing Guild for 45 years; Thea Court #5 L.O.S.N.A. for over 50 years; Triangle Chapter #592 O.E.S. for nearly 60 years. She was a Past President of Altrusa International of Columbus and Past President of Clintonville Woman's Club. Helen served as an Administrative Assistant at Ohio Public Employees Retirement System of Ohio from 1952 until she retired in 1975; prior to that she had been employed by the Buckeye Federal Savings and Loan, and Central YMCA. Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High Street, Worthington with Rev. John Keeny, officiating followed by burial at Union Cemetery. Friends may call from 10-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
