I've thoroughly enjoyed Irmgard since she first came to the Village 5? years ago. When she first came she was anxious to go out to lunch, go on day trips, play in the bell choir and attend art classes. As her dementia increased her ability and desire lessened but she could always be talked into bell choir. And she was always good at it. Just recently we had a baby shower for one of the Roxbury aides and Irmgard did not want to stay. I talked her into to staying for "just a bit." As the presents were opened and the laughter and conversation flowed Irmgard melted right into the celebration, smiling and enjoying the gifts. When it was over she said she was glad she stayed. It was so much fun seeing that little soft spot under the proper exterior. I enjoyed bantering with her and even the past year she was usually ready with a comeback even if it didn't make sense. I will miss her.
