We found out late, unfortunately, and were unable to attend the service. My wife and I met Jim over 30 yrs ago, before we were married. He helped us both learn about love, giving and sacrifice for the Lord. Through his example with his work at the time, having hired me on to help, he taught me that people were the most important part of life-not money. Thanks, Jim. You will always be thought of with a smile and fondness.

Ecclesiastes 7:1-2 "A good name is better than fine perfume,
and the day of death better than the day of birth.
2 It is better to go to a house of mourning
than to go to a house of feasting,
for death is the destiny of everyone;
the living should take this to heart.

An absolute pleasure playing alongside Jim in the early days of the Blues Drivers. Vocals as smooth as butter and truly a great guy. I'll miss the days of the all you can eat popcorn buffet at Brian Boru's and your signature "chicken chow-chow."

My condolences to Jim's family and friends. Like many others, I was privileged to perform many times with Jim. He always gave 100%, was a gifted singer, and always brightened the mood with his upbeat positive attitude and sincere sense of humor. He often lifted the band into a James Brown level of intensity and groove. I will miss him.

Jim -- with the band -- made the 2015 OWU women's lacrosse seniors' graduation weekend a glorious one. Will never forget the performance at Old Bag of Nails, and the senior lacrosse players up on stage singing the chorus to Mustang Sally -- over and over.

It was an honor to have played music as a duo with Jim for many years both in church at Xenos, and also at many venues in Columbus area. A great loss to the music world. God bless your family. You were one of the most fun and easy singers I have worked with :). We are thankful for your kindness and for sharing your gift with us, Jim... you will be missed.

We had the privilege of having Jim as the frontman for our band The Blues Drivers for 17 years, and recently Voodoo Cadillac. He provided not only incredible vocals, but also the energy and humor that made every gig a blast for all involved. It didn't matter whether there were 10 people or 1,000 Jim gave it everything he had. Our hearts go out to his daughters and brothers. I'm looking forward to another gig someday with you "Creek"!

Buckeye,
You were the kindest man I have ever met. You made my junior and senior year at O.U. and the year following fun and adventurous. You followed my attempt to be an accomplished lacrosse player and always encouraged me. Whenever I think of you, I see and hear you singing. I am only sorry that I did not get to hear you sing in these most recent years.

You left in this life many good memories not only for me but my sister-in-law Sue and nephew, Trevor and friends, Dave and Binney.

I know that your family will always know how blessed they were to have you. Your presence here on Earth will be greatly missed. The memory of you will always live on.

Buckeye Leake was a unique, wonderful brother in the bond of Phi Delta Theta at OU 1970-74. Now he'll be entertaining those in heaven with his wit, warmth and song that were so much a part of him. God bless you, Buckeye, you will always be with us in our memories. Thank you for everything.

I only met Jim just 2 yrs ago during the some of the free clinics that Coach Jason had set up. His uncanny ability to rapidly assess, correct , and demonstrate the fundamentals of women's lacrosse were unparalleled. Jim attended and helped run these clinics for nothing more than the love of the game and a handshake. Both my daughter Emma and I will never be able to forget the kindness, professionalism, and hospitality that Jim showed us and everyone else irregardless of their individual skill level. I can still picture that indelible smile and exuberance that Jim brought to every function. On a personal note, it is an extreme rarity to come across an Individual preloaded with the entire women's lacrosse play book committed to memory and I truly enjoyed every moment I had with the man. To Jims family : Please accept our sincerest condolences on your recent loss and thank you so much for all the time that Jim was able to be with us. He will truly be missed
