James Miller Obituary
1922 - 2017
James R. Miller, 95, of Newark, died December 28, 2017. He was born September 7, 1922 in Newark, OH to the late Dudley and Elsie (McWilliams) Miller. Jim was a graduate of the Newark High School class of 1940, earned a business degree from OSU in 1949. He served during WWII in the U.S. Army Air Corp. Jim worked at Kaiser Aluminum and at Comtrac. He was a 70-year member of F&AM Newark Lodge 97. He is survived by his two sons, Gary A. (Rita) Miller and David Miller; a daughter, Joyce (Robert) Lang; three grandchildren, Joseph (Sharon) Miller, Lee Ann Miller, and Hunter Lang; and a great-grandchild Mason James Miller, several Miller Family nieces & nephews and the Shoe and Pierce families. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marjorie (Shoe) Miller; three sisters and one brother. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 4, at The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark. Prior to the service friends may call from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. Masonic Services at 6:30 p.m. Committal service 10 a.m. Friday, January 5, at Fairmount Cemetery, U.S. Rt. 40, Jacksontown. Uncle Jim was a great guy. He loved his family and his animal friends. He loved the outdoors and nature. He had a friendly personality and was very kind. He was a good citizen and provider. Our country needs more good men like Uncle Jim. His family will miss him greatly.
