Jane Gensner Obituary

Gensner, Jane
Jane Elizabeth (Kuhlwein) Gensner, 68, a Hilliard, OH native and long-time resident of New Rome, passed away on October 1, 2018, after contending valiantly with Parkinson's Disease, and in the months leading up to her passing, endometrial cancer. With a quiet tenacity and resilience, "Janie" also navigated chronic mental illness with both grace and grit. She is a 1968 graduate of Hilliard High School and a 1971 graduate of Grant Hospital School of Nursing. She went on to make lasting impressions as an RN at both Doctors Hospital West and Grant. Her most cherished role was becoming a grandmother, and is known to her four grandchildren (Alana, Stella, Grant, and Theodore) as "G.G." She is survived by her two children, Philip (41) and Beth (39), and their respective spouses, Allie (Conrad) and Sarah (Geiger), along with her sister, Doris Kuhlwein (Harry) Rink, sister-in-law, Cynthia Kuhlwein, nieces and nephews, Dr. Terry Kuhlwein, Judy Kuhlwein Strader, Rick Gensner, and Cheryl Gensner Luckett, and countless life-long friends. She has been a lifetime member of St. James Lutheran Church. She is preceded in death by her husband Alan E. Gensner, her parents Edwin and Wilma Kuhlwein, Ervin Kuhlwein, and her brother William Kuhlwein. "Don't forget to tell your favorite people that you love them" (Shirley Temple). Family will receive friends 5-7 pm Thursday at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, OH 43026. Funeral service will be held 10 am Friday at St. James Lutheran Church, 5660 Trabue Rd, Columbus, OH 43228. Interment Alton Cemetery. www.tiddfuneralservice.com

Years ago, when Hilliard was still a farming community, Janie and I both lived in the country and rode the same school bus. We often enjoyed chatting with each other along the route and I'll always remember her kind smile and friendly manner. I'm very sad to learn of her passing and know she'll be dearly missed by family and friends alike.
