Joan McPherson (nee Bachman), 89, passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at her home in Defiance, Ohio. She was born December 28, 1928 in Columbus, Ohio, and previously resided in Columbus, New Albany, and Center Village, Ohio. Joan was a devoted Christian. Joan loved to dance. Much of her life centered around bringing the joy of dance to others. As a former member of The Ginger Snaps Dance Team, Joan brightened many lives, including many in nursing homes and senior communities. "Dancing with your feet is one thing, but dancing with the heart is another." Joan was an avid football fan, favoring the beloved Ohio State Buckeyes. Surviving is her loving husband of 60 years, Harold McPherson; her son, Douglas (Tammy) McPherson; her brother, Frank Bachman; her grandchildren, Michelle (Richard) Healy, Tyler (Alexis) McPherson, Ellie (Matthew) Banis, and Kyla McPherson; and great-grandchildren, Caia, Allie, Elizabeth, and Will Healy. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her mother and father-in-law, and her brothers and sisters. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Special thanks to the staff of Glenn Park in Defiance for their loving care and compassion. Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance assisted the family with arrangements. To honor her legacy, the Joan McPherson Dance Scholarship Fund has been established to support dancers pursuing their dreams. Contributions can be sent to Defiance Dance Studio at 1840 S.
