John Baas Obituary

BAAS John Frederick Baas, Sr., passed away on Thursday October 25, 2012 in Lancaster, Ohio, surrounded by his family, at the age of 79. John was born on April 28, 1933 in Columbus, Ohio to Fred L. and Lucille Cecilia Baas. John was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Sally Bickel and his brother Donald Baas. During his lifetime, John worked for Inland Products, Inc. in Columbus and was self-employed. John was a Koren war veteran (Air Force), past Commander of the American Legion Post 677 in Lithopolis and life member of the American Legion and AmVets Post 1985 in Lancaster. John had a love of history, reading and boating. John is survived by sisters, Sharon Kenney, Carol Baas, Claire (Wendell) Kessler; and brother, Fred (Ruth) Baas, Jr.; wife of 59 years, Marie F. of Lancaster; daughter, Cecilia (Tim) Leist of Reynoldsburg; son, John (Kathy) Baas of St. George, Utah; daughters, Patricia (Dwight) Turner of Lancaster and Margaret (Kirby) McCoy of Carroll; and son, Carl Baas of Lancaster: grandchildren, Jarod (Robyn) Baas, Joel Baas, Marcy (Nate) Eckhart and Tim Myers. There will be no funeral as John's final request was a donation to OSU but a memorial service will come at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to your local Veterans association.
