Jerry and I have always had so much respect for John. As a coach, teacher, and wonderful person. I personally will always remember taking Drivers Ed from him. Such a great memory for me at Mt. Gilead High School. He was the best. Was so great seeing him at my class reunion last year. Sending prayers to all the family. You were blessed to have John in your life - as we all were. Rest in peace John Campbell. You were my big brother, second father, mentor and great friend. My children Megan and Pat, knew you as Papa John. You always had a smile, a hug and stick of gum or piece of candy for them.
You taught this young, sometimes over-zealous coach how treat his players with respect, dignity, compassion and how to love every one of them like they were our own children. We were a great Stars volleyball coaching team for 10 years at Centennial High School.
I could not have been more blessed to have John guide me through my early years as a teacher and coach. What you taught me lives on in every interaction I have ever had with my players. You have touched so many lives and are now resting with all of the Stars in eternal peace. I love you and will miss you!

Mr. Campbell was my teacher at Whetstone, my brothers baseball coach at Whetstone, the guy who saved seats for us at the basketball tournaments, ref for my daughters volleyball games and mostly a wonderful friend! I will miss seeing his contagious smile around Westerville. Our prayers are with the entire Campbell family this week. Wrap your arms around each other and know how blessed you are to have had Mr. Campbell as your husband, Dad and Granddad!

John Campbell will be greatly missed by those who knew him. John had a positive impact on those he met. I praise him for the years he spent working with the young people in sports. John always played fair. He was a true example of "Live Life". I have been blessed to know John since 1992 and I am so thankful for all the inspiration over those years in Lions.

My deepest sympathies to John's family in their grief over his loss. As a long time coworker with him at the Central District and OHSAA basketball tournaments, I came to know him as a very funny man. He made the job a pleasure with his quips. I learned much about him from his love for his family to his commitment to his alma mater and his community. He seemed to know everyone who came into the site, and they all were happy to see him. My nickname for him was "Mr. Otterbein", as he was devoted to the school. For me late February and March will never be the same without our time together at the Coliseum and the Schott. He will be missed by his many friends.

My grandfather was a great man and a wonderful person. He was the most selfless man I have ever known. He cared about his family friends more than words can explain and he had a sense of humor that could make a comedian laugh. My grandfather was loved by anyone who ever had the pleasure of meeting him and loved in return everyone he ever met. The world lost a great man Sunday night and he will be missed dearly. Although it gives me comfort knowing he is in a better place now I still miss him. All I can say is everytime I drink a coca cola or watch our new York Yankees play he will be right there wit me. I love you grandpa. I'll think of you and be missing you everday.

I never saw John without a smile, even through his wicked fight with C. He was the most generous soul who praised God, adored his loving wife, Bet, and brought smiles and hugs to our entire family. John was a true friend to my dad, mom and all he met. Thankfully, he helped bring Terri & Scott together, enriching our family in every way!!! Blessings and LOVE to my family...John is in God's loving hands! XO Deb

I am just heartbroken to hear about John passing. He was a good man, a good friend. We didn't see each often, but he always had a smile. I umpired my very first OHSAA varsity baseball game with John. He was a mentor when I referred OHSAA basketball. When I stated by professional baseball umpire career he and his wife took me and my wife to dinner. He was so excited for me. You would have thought he was going into pro ball. I will truly miss John. My heart and deepest sympathies go out to his family. The world is a bit darker today without John in in to brighten it. May God bless him and his family.
