Our deepest condolences to Pegge and Kristin. Even though we haven't seen them in recent years, John and Pegge were always kind, gracious hosts and a joy to be around. John was an accomplished, but humble man, never bragging or putting on airs. He will be greatly missed.

Doc was a gentleman by any definition. He had a gracious and generous spirit rooted in diversity regardless of tribe or station in life. He loved humanity and despised ill treatment of anyone because of race, gender, national origin, etc. Yes, he was very humble and down to earth. May almighty God grant him eternal rest and peace.

I was so sorry to hear of John's passing. We go back a lot of years. I always enjoyed playing music with him - it was always a lot of fun. My thoughts and prayers go out to Peggy and the family.

On behalf of the retirees and Emeriti/Emerita at Capital University as chair of the Cap Connections Continued coordinating committee, I express our heartfelt sympathy to John's family. As one who knew John since his appointment to the faculty in 1993, worked with him on many occasions for the common good, and respected him greatly as teacher, scholar and colleague, I am saddened to learn of his passing on Christmas Day. He was a bright light among the many of his era. We regret that COVID prevents us from joining you at his memorial service but know that we too mourn his death.
